Draftsperson

Field of study: Mechanical and plant engineering
Duration of training: 3 1/2 years (reduction is possible)
 

After a successfully completed vocational training, professional opportunities can be found in the areas of development/application, planning/project planning, production design, standardization, production/operating tool design or quality assurance/testing as well as model, testing plan, assembly plan, standards, key line or legend draftsperson.
 
Activities
- Acceptance of work orders/draft sketches, possibly with consultation, selection
  and provisioning of required materials, acquisition of working documents
- Creating drawings, plans, graphical representations, key line drawings,
  incl. entering dimensions, designation of applicable connection
  technologies, lettering and dimensioning, creating parts lists
- Use of numerically controlled systems and computer-supported special devices for
  creating drawings, incl. entering drawing parameters,
  monitoring/controlling data processing, checking drawings
  creating with the plotter
- Performing changes to drawings
- Managing, providing and forwarding drawings
