Milestones of Drive Technology

  1963
A success story takes its course:
Arnold Müller forms AMK

The development and production of built-in motors for heating circulating pumps and semi-hermetic chillers is the beginning of a long tradition of product innovations that shaped the entire market.

  1967
The first electronically infinitely adjustable AC squirrel-cage motor in the world.

If only fixed speeds had been controlled via V-belt and mechanical gearbox until now, the AMK innovation now allowed for universal and flexible work for the first time using the optimum speed for different materials and tools.

The automation of technical tasks with AC motors was born!

  1975
Revolutionary:
The first electronic angle synchronism.

A vision becomes reality: Mechanical transfer elements are replaced by electrical drive technology. For the first time, it is possible to operate several AC single drives in angle synchronism with each other.

  1978
The first CNC controller with workshop programming.

It took until the middle of the 80s to become customary what AMK had already presented years earlier:

CNC programs could now be created directly at the machine by the operating personnel using simple input of drawing dimensions.

  1983
World's first with results:
Digital AC drive technology.

AMK is the first company to bring the digital AC drive technology to series production – a technology that became a world standard.

  1985
Award-winning innovations.

Not one, but several trendsetting innovations from AMK were awarded the Innovation Prize of the state of Baden-Württemberg.

  1992
A new era begins:
Drives become intelligent.

The AC variable-speed drives AMKASYN AZ/AW with integrated PLC and CNC controller make the drive intelligent. A fully digital access of the controller to all the drive information is possible for the first time and sets a standard which is still valid today.

  1996
Elevator drives are being developed for the Schindler Mobile.

  1998
AMK air compressors move the automotive industry.

The spare wheel becomes a run-out version, because air compressor and sealing component can quickly render damaged tires roadworthy again in a simple and easy way. All renowned car manufacturers are already banking on this technology today.

With the development of the air compressors, AMK is establishing its automotive sector.

  1999
Motor and frequency inverter become one:
The RM motor.

Motor and frequency inverter "merge" into one connection-ready unit. This allows for the decentral installation and saves space, costs, and assembly efforts.

It allows AMK to pay tribute to the trend towards decentral drive technology.

  2001
Small, powerful and completely new:
TORGsystem geared motors

Such compact and lightweight geared motors with such flexible installation options are an absolute novelty. With the powerful geared motor system, AMK expands its product spectrum, which allows it to extend its activities to additional sectors of the industry.

    2001
Stauffer Medal for Arnold Müller

Prime minister Erwin Teufel pays tribute to the entrepreneurial activities and voluntary commitment of Arnold Müller by awarding the Stauffer Medal of the state of Baden-Württemberg.

  2002
The smallest intelligent drives of the world.

Whether central or decentral drive solutions, the new drive and control system AMKASYN KE/KW is flexible in a unique way. And in a very small space: The servo converters are only half the size of comparable products and offer the highest function and safety standard.

  Compact top performance

The DT AC servo motors with very high torque a low acceleration times and the extremely field-weakening DS synchronous motors with high torque distinguish themselves not only by their listed performance characteristics, but particularly by their extraordinarily compact design.

  2002
AS-PLxx - a new definition of the control technology

The machine control AS-PLxx is the center of the drive and control system AMKASYN. The scalable performance in a flexible system architecture is the foundation for individual automation solutions.

  2003
Yet another innovation for the automotive industry:
Compressors for air spring systems

The use of air and electronics allows for replacing conventional mechanical spring systems. Increasing traffic safety and travel comfort are the main focus: The spring system can respond to changing traffic situations in fractions of a second.

    2005
AMK receives TOP 100 award

AMK receives the Top 100 award for its outstanding innovative products and solutions. Under the auspices of Lothar Späth, the comparison study evaluates the innovation power of small-to-medium size companies. Among the criteria are the economic success of the innovations on the market. The long-term strategies of the company for a successful future as judged in the following four categories are also evaluated: innovative processes and organization, innovation climate, innovation marketing, and innovation-promoting top management.
